How the Remote Retriever Became a Reality
In November of 2019, my nonverbal autistic son, Hayden, lost three remote controls. After purchasing new remotes at $60 each, I thought there has to be an easy way to find a remote. The following year while visiting my Dad, I found out that his remote was missing, too. I ordered him a new one and then another one a few weeks later. This is where the idea for The Remote Retriever was born. In January of 2021, while talking to Adam, my significant other and now business partner, I told him of the idea I had to make something to put on the tab and the remote so if Hayden lost it again we could find it easily. He asked if I told my Dad about it. I hadn't nut we called my Dad and he like the idea. Adam and my Dad spoke an told me if I could make one they will back me and we could start a business. I started working day and night. First, I started studying, thinking this was something I could do myself. After learning about RFID, BLE and LoRa, I realized that I know that I don't know enough to do this on my own. Here is where I began comprising a team. I took on a general engineer, an electrical engineer, a CAD specialist/3D printer expert, an audio engineer and liaisons for factories. This team has proven to be incredibly valuable in the making of these devices. Hiring a team didn't stop Adam and I from putting long hours in. We worked on getting everything done from the design to the logos, from the sound of the alert to the thickness and design on the box. There is not any part of this that we were not hands on part of. Patents, Trademarks, EIN, TIN, LLC and multiple social media accounts are a few of the things we have had to get when we were ready to launch. We built his website and in January of 2022 we officially launched The Remote Retriever. The devices are available in your choice of black or white.
Getting the word out about The Remote Retriever is an ongoing task. Social media, trade shows, word of mouth and tv shows are all ways we continue to spread the word.
